The Diocesan Youth Ministry Office serves all parishes and secondary schools within the Diocese of Townsville.  Our goal is to increase the opportunities within the Church for young people to be involved and to grow in their faith. 

In 2007 and 2008 our focus is firmly on World Youth Day Sydney 2008 preparations.  Part of this focus is developing a pastoral approach to Diocesan youth minsitry  post 2008.  WYD08 is a great grace, and you will see that we have embraced it wholeheartedly in our events.

The Diocesan Youth Office also supports the following organisations and events:

  • WildFire (Fortnightly Townsville discussion groups)
  • Movers & Shakers Leadership Development Program (a QCDYC initiative)
  • Queensland Catholic Diocesan Youth Coordinators (QCDYC)
  • Australian National Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators (ANDYMC)
  • The newly formed National Catholic Youth Council

The Diocesan Youth Ministry Office will assist parishes who are seeking youth friendly resources and music, it will also advise on the set up of parish youth ministry iniatives.  Please contact us for further information.


About Dan Bowmar - Diocesan Youth Ministry Development Officer

Dan BowmarDan began at the Diocesan Youth Ministry Office in October 2006.  He arrived in Australia from New Zealand with his wife, 2 daughters, and a son. 

Dan is a previous member of National Evangelisaton Teams (NET) and is also qualified in Occupational Therapy. 

After attending WYD08 with the Palm Island group, Dan is looking forward to developing youth ministry further in the diocese, in particular youth ministry leadership.
