Open New Horizons - Youth Retreat!

Video Message from Bishop Tim

As a combined Diocesan youth initiative with support from the St Vincent de Paul Society, Young Christian Students and Holy Spirit Parish Youth Group, the Townsville Catholic Diocese will be hosting the Open New Horizons Retreat for preformation for the 2017 Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) and the launch of the Year of Youth for 2018.

The theme for ACYF and the Townsville Youth Retreat is to “Open new horizons for spreading joy: Young people, faith and vocational discernment”. This is based from Pope Francis’ World Youth Day Vigil (2016) which encourages youth to blaze trails to open new horizons capable of spreading joy and inspiring us to put our faith into action.

The Open New Horizons Retreat is open to all youth within the Diocese who may be attending ACYF or who may not be attending the festival. This is an incentive for all youth in the Townsville Diocese to come together in faith and to welcome youth to deepen their personal understanding of their own spiritual journey and mission in the community. It also creates an opportunity to increase youth participation within the Diocese and provide networking opportunities for youth to link with existing youth groups and organisations to put their faith into action.
